Mobile apps
The mobile apps are companion viewers for iOS and Android. They let you watch your cameras, browse recordings, and receive notifications on the go. The server runs elsewhere (on your desktop or a server install); the mobile app connects to it.
Download
- iOS / iPadOS. Currently in beta. Join through TestFlight: install Apple's TestFlight app, then open the invite link on your device.[1]
- Android. Currently in beta. Join the beta group with the Google account you use in the Play Store, become a tester, then install from Google Play.[2]

Connecting to your server
You sign in with your camera.ui account (Google, Apple, or email), and your paired servers appear. From there the app picks the best route on its own:
- At home. On the same network as the server, the app connects straight to it over your local network, so live view starts faster with less lag. It trusts the server's certificate for local addresses automatically.
- Away. Off the network, it reaches the server through camera.ui Cloud.
Either way, the account is what links the app to your server. This needs two things on the server side:
- Remote access via camera.ui Cloud enabled.
- The server paired to your account.
Notifications
With the app installed and signed in, you can receive push notifications for events directly on your phone. See Notifications to choose what you're alerted about.[3]
Biometric login
In Settings → Account, turn on Biometric login to sign in with Face ID or Touch ID instead of your password. camera.ui saves your credentials in the device's secure storage; sign out and back in once after enabling it to store them. Turning the toggle off removes the saved credentials.
App lock
For an extra layer on the device itself, turn on App lock with Face ID / Fingerprint in the app's settings. With it on, the app asks for biometric authentication (or your device passcode as a fallback) every time it starts, and again when you come back after a few minutes in the background. Switching away briefly and back doesn't re-prompt. It's separate from biometric login: login saves you typing your password, app lock adds a check on the device itself.
Updates
The apps update through the App Store and Google Play like any other app (during the beta, through TestFlight on iOS and the Play Store testing track on Android), and also receive over-the-air updates to the interface. See Updating.

Google requires testers to stay enrolled for at least 14 days before the app can go public, so please stay opted in. For beta builds, turn on Beta updates under Settings → System in the app. ↩︎
An active camera.ui subscription covers recording (NVR) and the features built on it, such as playback, export, face recognition, semantic search, and AI descriptions, plus push notifications. Live view and real-time detection are free. ↩︎
